Thats so cute,, but since I never went to NTID, I wouldn’t know about the student services there, the community college I went to briefly had an open door policy for the deaf students, unless the counselor and student had a meeting , the door would be closed …but normally door is almost always open
Switch NTID for Gallaudet, and you’ve got a winner! The cartoon is dead on in how it portrays an administration totally out of touch with its community.
WHY NTID HIRE HEARING PERSON WORK IF THERE IS NTID IS COMPLETE DEAF COLLEGE WHO DONT KNOW DEAF CULTURE ??? SHOULD REJECT WHO WORK IN OFFICE ! MAYBE NEED OFFICE DOORBELL FLASH LOL
I don’t like this drawing at all, it’s just the reason is because it’s a little bit insulting to the deaf community..
I dont know about this Joke it might be from hearing draw that. Cuz Hearing tend to wonder who’s running administration in office for NITD? so they make fun of adms. Office who is Deaf? this not make sense to me. if it is joke pls explaine that. okay, Mark
It is obviously ignorant of Deaf culture. Hearing has a lot of problem, not Deaf. Deaf has better common sense than hearing that I have noticed that. Please pardon me if I offend you, hearing.
Thus was the old news published in 1991. It might have something happened at the NTID student services at that time, if anyone who knew the situation back then, care to explain to us “clarify the humors”. If I understood this correctly, back then, there was a hearing person who knew nuthing about the deaf/hoh student service needy. Though, the published spread out from paper to rochester paper telling the people what was going on in the comic “humors”. Har-har.

That is true, could be happened anywhere. MY wife worked in deaf service with many hearing staffs. OH MAN ! ,They do not care about deaf staffs. They worried more about money grants from governments and perfect paper works for governments, MY wife had a hard time with big hearing boy ! ! They did not learn sign. WHAT SHAME ! !
The “joke” cartoon is perfect for both world. However I think it is funny and true.
The joke is not offended to me because I work for 30 yrs. I know what is like in hearing world. I understand deaf people have to deal with hearing people/world !
Hearing people will never learn in deaf culture.( few will learn)

I get ur point Dave thanks yeah I have see Hearing people keep avoid answer phone tty or answer door. why close door really normal open door for adms. so it show us that they dont have patines. ofc I am Deaf world but sometime I am idioit until I get it heeheelol. same with my wife is hearing and she always fall sleep on me heeheelol. I am alittle behine about Deaf culture cause I live in rural country in Maine! I am from Az then go to tenn unversity but hasnt learn Deaf culture cause of war language. then I move in Maine which strong support ASL in here and now I thank God that I have learn about Deaf Culture because of ASL!! me either I am not sorry to express about my feeling too. thank feed back make me smarter about Deaf Culture heeheelol!!!

it’s NTID – the cartoon generally portrayed a suitation which would have been considered funny if it actually happened
just in case you havent really noticed, the people knocking on the door is deaf and the person on the phone is telling the people behind the door to enter, the man didnt realize that they are deaf (even though it should be obvious enough since it’s NTID afterall)

hmmhmm i dont think so hearing dont know that deaf huh , remmy this today are not like 1930s , dont forget many time deaf rebal , complaning for rights on news and deaf power from gallary happen history many happen , i belevie that hearing ppls awareknowance about deafs happen . thanks jc
